Daugava Museum (Salaspils district, Salaspils parish, Doles sala) – located just 20 minutes southeast of Riga, visitors are advised to combine a visit to this museum with a picnic on this site — Dole Island (Doles Sala). This museum has a rich collection of archaeological materials that tell about events on the Daugava River banks, starting with the first settlers who came to the territory of Latvia (starting with the first Stone Age man’s place of residence – the Salaspils Laukskola settlement (9th century BC) and up to the Ikšķile Castle and church complex – the first stone construction in the Baltic area (1198).
