Occupation Museum of Latvia (Raiņa bulvāris 7, Rīga) — this intriguing museum’s exhibition tells about life in Latvia during three 20th century occupations (the first Soviet occupation of 1940-41; the Nazi occupation from 1941-44; and the second Soviet occupation, from 1944-1991): The museum also covers power politics, Soviet and Nazi terror, the destruction of Latvia’s economy, Soviet and Nazi totalitarian ideologies with regard to culture policy, and Latvian residents’ opposition until they regained their freedom in 1991.
